Exotic beaches bring to mind the movie, The Beach. A gorgeous sand beach with perfect water. I have never been to that beach spot in Thailand and have no intention at all. Have you ever seen the real images? Brutal. Totally packed with people “living the dream”. I will pass on that little piece of paradise.
Exotic Beaches & Vacations: More than a Myth?
Do you want to travel half way around the world for a crowd on the beach? Maybe its a good deal when you are 20 and have two months until classes restart. These days, that is not for me. Unfortunately, I have gotten soft and spoiled. It doesn’t mean I have given up on life…I just don’t want to fight crowds for a spot on the beach.
Exotic Destinations: Remote Places to Visit
If you are fortunate enough to have the resources to visit an exotic place on the beach, its likely you might be surfing, diving or another aquatic activity for a few days. That same beach above looks completely different from a live aboard dive boat at sunrise. One of my favorite things to do, is checking out places from the water. Such a different perspective. It’s especially cool, when there are hordes of people.
Code for food poisoning?
A couple tips for when you find your tropical getaway. When you get there, don’t chuck common sense out the window. If you are not a drinker in Seattle, day drinking Mai Tai’s might not be suggested. The same goes for food. By all means, you should sample the local delicacies, just think a little bit before you order. There is no shame in asking somebody either. In reality, thats the most clued up thing you can do.
“Excuse me, what’s good here?”
Have you ever seen the TV show, Survivor? When it came out, I thought it was the dumbest thing ever. These days, I love seeing the remote beach spots and exotic islands where the show is filmed. They eat some crazy local food as well.
Beach activities you don’t do at home!
Do you like to go hiking, horseback riding, or catch a hula show and luau? These are just a few of the things to consider when you have left your comfort zone and decided to visit some of the most exotic places in the world. Of course, a lot of these activities are a total waste of money. So what! Laugh a little and go on that zip line in Costa Rica. How often are you in the canopy of a tropical rain forest anyway?
