An indoor hammock makes a great fixture. The sight of a hammock inside the house not only brings comfort to the entire room but it also adds welcoming warmth. Long before, hammocks were mainly used as outdoor furniture. It was used mostly in the beach. But with modernization and innovation, it has found its indoor use. Hammocks made today were also designed to make it easier for them to be cleaned. Keeping them clean and dry will surely help it last much longer.
There are many ways to clean a hammock. And one of them is through the use of a washing machine. You can start by holding the two end rings, one in each hand, and bring them together. Tie the hammock together using string placed below the rings. Starting on the opposite end, tie the hammock again, and then one last time in the middle portion. Keeping the hammock in this position will prevent the metal rings from being tangled in the hammock string. Then place the hammock in a pillowcase and use a string to tie the opening. You can use a mild detergent or a hammock cleaner and never, ever make use of a bleach to clean them. When the machine is done, remove the strings gently and hang them to dry. Some people prefer cleaning their hammocks through hand washing. In this case, tie the hammock as what was instructed for machine wash and place it in a tub or sink with mild detergent powder. Immerse the hammock until it form suds and repeat immersing it. Agitate the hammock to thoroughly clean it. Rinse it with clean water, untie and hang it dry. Drying and storing your hammock will also lengthen its life. After washing the hammock, keep them in a place free from moist. This is to ensure that there will be no formation of molds or mildew. A breathable storage bag will work but if this is not available, then you can hang it inside the garage or basement.
Keeping your hammock clean and dry will surely increase its life. When not used, it is important to store it in a cool and dry place to prevent damage caused by molds and mildew. Or when summer time comes and you plan to go outdoors, you can take the hammock with you (depending on the hammock type). This way, you can also enjoy it outside the house and take it to the beach with you. So pack your swimdresses and be ready as summer season is nearing.
